The Children’s Bread Meaning Explained Biblically

Text: Matthew 15:26

In the Bible, Jesus referred to healing as “the children’s bread.” But what does this really mean for believers today? Are God’s children actually living in this truth, or has healing become something they desperately chase after?

To truly experience divine healing, we must understand that it is not just a blessing — it’s part of our spiritual inheritance as children of God.

What Does “Children’s Bread” Mean in the Bible?

In biblical times, bread represented food in general — something taken daily without question.
When Jesus said that healing is the children’s bread, He was teaching that healing should be as natural and accessible to God’s children as eating food.

Unfortunately, many Christians today treat healing as something rare instead of receiving it freely. This is why understanding the children’s bread is crucial to walking in divine health.

You Don’t Pray for Bread to Appear

When you’re hungry, you don’t beg for food to appear — you simply go to the kitchen, take it, and eat.

Likewise, believers shouldn’t run from place to place looking for healing. The healing you need is already within you through Christ.

Here’s the difference:

A hungry person might not have food at the moment.

A believer always has access to healing because it is part of their spiritual inheritance.

Step One: Refuse to Accept Lying Vanities

Jonah 2:8 (not Job 8:8) says, “Those who observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.”

As a believer, you must reject sickness as your reality. Symptoms may show up, but they are not the truth.

I learned this personally. As a young Christian, I battled several ailments, including cancer. But through the Word of God, I built my faith and received complete healing in 2009 during a Christian healing program. The cancer never returned. Even when minor pains appear, I refuse to acknowledge them—and they vanish quickly.

I have severally received healing through meditation on the Word of God. I have learnt to disregard symptoms. I focus on God’s Word and see myself in it and get healed over and over again without fear. God’s Word is the Truth. Stop observing symptoms, rather see you self healed already.

Step Two: Renew Your Mind

Romans 12:2 tells us to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

The world teaches that sickness is “normal,” but the Word of God teaches otherwise. God created man in His image (Genesis 1:31), and everything He made was very good.

Sickness came through sin, but Jesus dealt with sin and its consequences through His death and resurrection.

To walk in divine health, you must renew your mind with God’s truth and reject the belief that sickness is unavoidable.

How to Renew Your Mind

1. Daily Bible Study – Read and meditate on healing scriptures.

2. Visualization – Picture yourself taking healing as freely as you take bread.

3. Repetition – Declare faith for healing until it becomes a deep conviction.

The more you meditate, the more divine health becomes your natural reality.

Step Three: Know God Personally

Many see God as distant or unapproachable. But Jesus taught us to pray “Our Father”, revealing God as a loving parent.

Colossians 1:27 reveals the mystery: “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
God is not far away — He lives in you.

When you understand His love and presence, receiving healing becomes easier and more natural. You simply see yourself as God sees you — His image.

As a spirit, you cannot be sick. There can be no imperfection in perfection. So if you notice any abnormality in your body, don’t accept it as your truth. Believe that just as God is, so are you (1 John 4:17). Refuse fear and rest in the knowledge that God is in you and with you, and no error can manifest in your body.

Conclusion

Healing is your birthright as a child of God.
Refuse sickness. Renew your mind with God’s Word. Live daily in the awareness of His love.

Just as you freely eat bread without begging for it, take your healing today and walk in divine health.

This is the true meaning of “the children’s bread” — healing is not something you strive for, but something already provided for you in Christ.

God richly bless you.
