Introduction: Why Believe in Jesus? His birth, life and teachings

Discover why Jesus is different from every religious leader. Explore His divine birth, life, and teachings in Part 1 of Why Believe in Jesus?

Why should anyone believe in Jesus? This question has been asked for centuries. Many people do not understand what Christians mean when we declare that Jesus is Lord. Some argue, “There is only one God.” Others claim, “Jesus never died; God whisked Him away.”  Jesus died and was buried and His tomb in Israel is still empty to this very day.

When we say Jesus is the Son of God, people misunderstand, asking, “How can God have a Son if He does not have a wife?” But this shows what the Bible already revealed:

“But the canal man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:14, KJV)

To truly understand why you should believe in Jesus Christ, your mind must be renewed by the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. Without this renewal, the Gospel will never make sense. As 2 Corinthians 4:4 declares:

“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” (KJV)

A great number of people have been blinded by Satan. They think themselves wise, but in reality they are lost. This lack of understanding is leading many down the road of destruction. Still, we must ask the central question: Why Jesus? Why should you believe in Him above every other religious leader?

Jesus’ Birth Was Divine

There are about 10,000 religions in the world, with five major ones. Every single one of them was founded by men and women born through natural means. Their founders were born from human parents, except one—Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the only religious leader not born by the union of a man and woman. He was born of a virgin. This had never happened before and has never happened again in human history. God Himself brought forth His Son supernaturally, fulfilling prophecy, without the help of man.

God is Spirit and does not need any human help to fulfill His purpose. He did something so miraculous that to the natural mind, it seems too good to be true. Yet this is the very meaning of Gospel—good news that seems too good to be true.

Many refuse to believe because, in their minds, it seems impossible. But unbelief does not change the truth of God. Time and again, even hardened skeptics have encountered the power of God and confessed Jesus as Lord.

The wise will recognize that Jesus is unlike every other religious leader, because His birth was divine. He is God made flesh.

His Dedication in the Temple Was Divine

According to the Law of Moses, every firstborn male child was to be dedicated to God. When Jesus was presented at the temple, something extraordinary happened.

A devout man named Simeon had been promised by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death until he saw the Messiah. On the very day Jesus was presented in the temple, the Spirit led Simeon there. Upon seeing the child Jesus, he declared:

“Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation.” (Luke 2:29–30, KJV)

This was no ordinary child. Jesus was the divine Son of God, born for the redemption of the world. No one else was worthy to take away the sins of mankind, so God Himself provided the Lamb.

The Bible says in 1 Timothy 3:16:

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” (KJV)

To call Jesus the Son of God means He is God in human flesh. God gave His Word a body, that He might walk among us and pay the ultimate price for our sins.

Jesus’ Life, Walk, and Teachings Were Divine

Before and after Jesus, the world has known many philosophers and religious leaders. But none of them ever lived, walked, or taught like Jesus Christ.

Some say Jesus never claimed to be God. But He did. In John 8:58, Jesus said:

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” (KJV)

At that, the Jews took up stones to kill Him, because they understood He was claiming the divine name of God—I AM—as spoken to Moses in Exodus 3:14:

“And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.” (KJV)

Again, in John 10:30, Jesus declared:

“I and my Father are one.” (KJV)

His opponents tried to stone Him, saying: “For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” (John 10:33, KJV).

In John 14:6, Jesus said:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (KJV)

Unlike other religious leaders, Jesus spoke with divine authority. While Buddha said, “I am enlightened,” Jesus said, “I am the Light of the world.” Even His enemies admitted, “Never man spake like this man.” (John 7:46, KJV).

Why Believe in Jesus,? He Never God Married or Have Biological Children.

History shows that many religious leaders had wives and large families with Children. Some of them fought wars and shed blood severally but not Jesus. Even when His disciples suggested that He let them attack the city of Samaria for denying Him entrance. He injected.

Peter cut of the ear of the servant of the chief priest. Jesus miraculously restored the ear and warned that any one who killed with the sword shall die by it. His walking earth was different from other religious leaders.

Jesus did not merely speak—He demonstrated the power of God. He healed the sick, opened the eyes of the blind, walked on water, multiplied food for thousands, and raised the dead. His apostles later did the same in His name, and even today, Jesus continues to manifest His power through those who believe. People are being raised from death, blind eyes are being opened, cancers are healed, the lame walk in the name of Jesus.

God Himself testified of Him in Hebrews 1:8:

“But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.” (KJV)

If God the Father calls Him God, who are we to  say He is not?. Jesus is everything we need, He is the solution to every problem. There is no other name under heaven given among men where by we must be saved. Only Jesus can save.

Why Believe in Jesus Christ? (Conclusion)

So why believe in Jesus Christ? Because His life is divine in every way. His birth was divine, His dedication was divine, and His teachings and works were divine. He is not like any other religious leader—He is God made flesh.

The world needs Jesus. Religion cannot save you. Good works cannot save you. Only Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, can save you.

Friend, if you are reading this and have not received Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, today is your opportunity. The Bible says in Romans 10:9:

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (KJV)
